I’m supposed to believe that the man who sat in a classroom reading a kids’ book for seven minutes AFTER he was told the country was under attack, who was warned repeatedly about imminent threats against the country and chose to ignore them, who has traipsed off on vacation every time there is a domestic or international disaster, is a decisive man-of-action with the fortitude to run a nation.

I am supposed to believe that God himself chooses my nation’s leaders and that, in His infinite wisdom, he chose a lying, thieving, self-absorbed, pro-torture, pro-war, lazy frat-boy jerk like George W. Bush.

I am supposed to believe that the same man who used family money and influence to duck military duty, who has failed at every business venture he ever tried, who never did an honest day’s work or accomplished anything of value in his entire life, is fit to be Commander-in-Chief.

I am supposed to believe that a man who ignores the Constitution he swore to uphold, breaks the law with abandon, repeatedly lied about the reasons for going to war, its cost, its duration, and even its goals, is honest and trustworthy.I am supposed to believe that the escalating violence, chaos and deaths in Iraq and Afghanistan are a sign of progress.

I am supposed to believe that a man who, by his own admission, does not read newspapers, who only meets with and listens to ‘yes’ men, who refuses to speak before any group that is not hand-picked from his staunchest supporters, is in touch with the realities of the world.

I am supposed to believe that sending US soldiers into combat without proper equipment or a viable military strategy, while decreasing their pensions and their benefits, is a patriotic display of supporting the troops.

I am supposed to believe that gutting the funding of social programs aimed at assisting the poor, the sick, the hungry and the homeless is the outcome of good Christians being in office, and that torturing, maiming and killing innocent civilians is “doing the Lord’s work”.

Oh, don’t go anywhere, because I haven’t even gotten started yet …I am supposed to believe that a president who acts like an ill-mannered, oafish, mindless buffoon in public, both at home and in international settings, and a vice president who tells a colleague to go f*ck himself in the course of conducting the country’s business, are both deserving of respect.

I am supposed to believe that spying on US citizens, quashing free speech, and suspending laws that govern detention and confinement without just cause is preserving the tenets of democracy.I am supposed to believe that alienating our allies, isolating ourselves from the world, refusing to use diplomacy instead of aggression, and causing people around the globe to hate us is the best way to protect my country from violent attack.

I am supposed to believe that no-bid contracts awarded to companies owned by members of this Administration, its families and its cronies is pure coincidence, and that secret meetings resulting in policies that enrich their supporters to the detriment of hard-working Americans is good and honest government.

Hold on, because there’s MORE of this crap ...I am supposed to believe that outsourcing American jobs, under-funding our educational system, and plunging the country deeper into debt with every passing day will lead to a stronger, more competitive nation in the years to come.

I am supposed to believe that the same people who left NOLA to drown, who refuse to secure our borders, who refuse to implement the recommendations of the 9/11 Commission, and who initiate policies that incite anger and violence the world over are protecting my country from harm.

I am supposed to believe that an Administration whose policies make basic medical care and life-saving drugs unaffordable for millions of Americans is pro-life. I am supposed to believe that elected representatives who voted for the Bankruptcy Bill, tax breaks for wealthy individuals, and tax subsidies for multi-billion dollar corporations are looking out for their constituents. Along with all of the above, I am also supposed to believe that selling authority over our ports to foreign nations, selling our national lands to private interests, and selling our children’s future by burdening them with debt for decades to come is in the best interests of our country.

Drum roll, please -- here's the BIG FINALE ...I am supposed to believe it is safe to board an airplane with a hold full of uninspected cargo as long as no passengers are in possession of baby formula, that a group of men in Britain were about to take down ten airliners without tickets or passports, that seven men in Miami were going to blow up buildings in cities they didn’t have the money to get to, that one lone guy in New York was going to take down the Brooklyn Bridge with a blow-torch, that if we leave Iraq every terrorist in the world is going to come to the US and fight us in the malls and the supermarkets, that the ‘Liberal media’ simply forgets to cover the lies, cover-ups and corruption of this Administration and its party members, that voting for a Democrat in Connecticut sends shockwaves of unbridled encouragement throughout the Muslim world, that a bunch of PNAC members whose predictions have been proven totally wrong in every instance should be dictating policy to my government, that our military isn’t stretched too thin and they are just recalling those who have already fulfilled their duty because they’ve got too much time on their hands, and that George W. Bush spends his summers reading CAMUS and SHAKESPEARE.

Oh, if only I were GULLIBLE, ILL-INFORMED, EASILY LED and TOTALLY STUPID – what a FINE Bush supporter I would have made!

US Soldier Reveals the True Iraq Situation

I'm an MP w/16 months in Iraq. I wear combat action badge and about 25 other medals and ribbons and train jr. MPs to go to the fight.

I ran electronics, generators, security and humanitarian missions in Iraq and walked the halls of power in 2003 as a COL/GS15 under orders to restart the government.

I survived many attacks but an IED attack took part of my hearing at the end of 2004 and two guys 50 feet from me along w/2 more wounded. The facts are that we got shot at daily in 2003 after "mission accomplished". Two of my buddies died after the war was over.

In the 6 months I was out of country the UN pulled out after a massacre. During the next rotation in for a year, we only spent something like $4B on reconstruction of the $60B authorized because we couldn't get the projects going.

The E-9 in charge of projects left in Dec 04 totally frustrated because all the projects he'd worked were stalled or not started and we were rationing food and water. We had the oil pipeline in the north just outside our perimeter on the MSR. EVERY time we rebuilt it they blew it up again. It burned the entire year I was there except for a few days.

They rocketed our barracks almost daily w/impunity and killed our burger king and killed our interpreters families. We, in turn (my unit) shot up their wedding parties by mistake and ran over their animals in the street on purpose.

At the start of the year, we threw water to kids begging. At the end of the year, we threw water AT kids begging. They threw rocks at us and flipped us the bird within two months of arrival of the invasion after we cut off their food and water and electric supplies.We weren't much better off. In winter we burned everything wood we'd built for heat because some of us had no winter clothes. We used a swimming pool for potable water.I ran out of bullets.

Our generators died and no parts came to fix them. Some generators just didn't come. We paid $50K to ransom a stolen generator worth $500K. Two more were still missing and thought to be in Syria when we left. Our command lost 8 dead and one POW (Matt Maupin). A good friend of mine lost his arm and spleen in the same week I performed ceremonies at 8 funerals at our FOB.Every time we killed a bad guy ten came to take his place.

Every time we killed an innocent, 20 came to take his place. The venders we worked with locally came in and tried to blow up our bazaar we set up to help them make money. We stopped that but they got to our DFAC.

By 2005, 1/2 of the Iraqi National Guard deserted at our post when we arrested their general for collusion. At night we aimed our attention (and our weapons) inside the perimeter at the ING barracks. We don't trust them. We'll never trust them. It's all about numbers. The longer we stay, the more we spend, the more their ranks grow. The more the public disapproves of the war. the more the Muslim nations learn to hate us. Like it or not, it's all about attrition by now.-Including in our units. We lost 1/3 of our unit after 4 deployments. My last unit had 1/3 PTSD. The numbers don't look good on the inside as well as in the news on the outside. We are, however, making our recruiting and retention because our bonuses are steller. I now get $3,000 if I get just one soldier in the guard and I'm not a recruiter! The only thing keeping us alive over there now is that they've decided it's more effective to mostly seek revenge on their own than drive out the invaders because we still have no effective IED defense and our apache's now avoid close air support because it's too easy to shoot them down.

Those aren't opinions, there observed facts. My unit will be back there inside 2 years. We're down to only 20 MP's qualified and a lot of nonquals and no uparmored HMMWVs and a lot of our equipment simply is gone.

It's gonna be a tough couple of next years. And, after 5 years of war, we need MAJOR refits.

Until then, we'll do our job but we'd be much better off hand frisking every person and container coming in this country than promoting muslim facism weapons training overseas.

I missed Vietnam, but I expect it was as screwed up at the end as this war is now. Changing objectives, vague victories, two steps back for every one forward... Now we're running 16 month deployments and more brigades in Baghdad. I'll probably support one more deployment over there myself but if I do, I promise it will be my last.I've done my share and a whole lot more. Someone better start talking about a draft because we're gonna need one at this pace...I doubt the liberal press is to blame.

Beginning of the End for the Republican PR Machine

It HAD to happen. ...Bush's Propaganda Machine couldn't go on forever without getting outed. (Sorta like Jeff Gannon!)

A parody of Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth" entitled "Gore's Penguin Army" is now playing at www.youtube.com/watch?v=IZSqXUSwHRI . You.tube.com is a website for uploading (mostly) amateur video.

Purported to have been posted by a 29-year old male (screen name toutsmith) from Beverly Hills, California, the video was an amateurish attempt to spoof the documentary created by Gore. "An Inconvenient Truth" has been vetted for accuracy by many scientists and has passed the litmus test for accuracy regarding the degradation of our environment.

A reporter for the Wall Street Journal contacted toutsmith re: "Gore's Penguin Army" and....
received a response, not from a dude from California but from a computer registered to one of the most powerful propoganda mills in Washington, D.C. According to www.sourcewatch.org/index.php?title=DCI_Group , DCI Group has close ties to the George W. Bush administration and a stellar list of Republican clientele.

The supposed author of this video also created a link to www.myspace.com/goreiscrazy.

The Machine knows how powerful the internet is and is attempting to sway public opinion with its use.

Let's show how powerful the internet is...forward this to someone who still believes the government would never stoop to dirty little tricks and lies. The next election will be won on the internet as this is the only bastion of truth left.
